Las Vegas, NV - Described as a “life-changing experience,” BODIES…The Exhibition was the first to debut in Premier Exhibition’s new 36,800 square foot exhibition center at Luxor Hotel & Casino and has quickly become one of the most fascinating and educational experiences in Las Vegas. Showcasing more than 275 full body, organ and partial body specimens, these real human bodies have been meticulously dissected, preserved through an innovative process and respectfully presented, giving visitors the opportunity to view the beauty and complexity of their own organs and systems.
Beginning its 10-year residency at Luxor August 2, 2008, the Exhibition not only provides guests a close-up look at the skeletal, muscular, respiratory and other systems in the human body, but also encourages healthy lifestyle choices. Authentic human specimens illustrate the damage caused to organs by smoking, over-eating and lack of exercise. For example, a healthy lung is featured next to a black lung ravaged by smoking in a vivid comparison more powerful than any textbook image.
The human body specimens in BODIES…The Exhibition are preserved through a revolutionary technique called polymer preservation. In this process, human tissue is permanently preserved using liquid silicone rubber that is treated and hardened. The end result is a rubberized specimen, preserved to the deepest cellular level, showcasing the complexity of the body’s many bones, muscles, nerves, blood vessels and organs. The full-body specimens can take more than a year to prepare and after undergoing the polymer preservation process, they become impervious to decomposition.
